ABSTRACT

The study was carried out in the area around Dalinkowa Town, Gongola basin, Upper Benue Trough with view of carrying out grain size distribution analysis of the exposed middle Bima Sandstone. Thirteen (13) samples have been collected and analyzed for their grain-size parameters and statistical relationships by using graphical method. Basic statistical grain-size parameters like mean, sorting (standard deviation), skewness, and kurtosis have been calculated. The samples are almost all poorly to moderately sorted, very fine-skewed to coarse skewed and platykurtic to leptokurtic in nature.

ABSTRACT Hydrodynamic equations were simplified to a layman understanding together with the diffusion-convection transport equation for the cosmic-ray distribution function

, which depends on time

, radial distance from the point of supernova explosion

 and the particle momentum

. From the results, gas density

is inversely proportional to the gas velocity

; flux tubes have a tendency to rise at an appreciable speed; pressure of the atmospheric gas

 depends on the cosmic-ray pressure

and the internal energy of the electron

is directly proportional to the gas density

. Based on what Vladimir et al. (2010) said: “More work is needed to understand how robust our results are”, this has helped in making their bulky equations clearer and showing how robust their work are. In the cause of breaking down or simplifying the high energy equations, it was found that cosmic

ABSTRACT

Information and communication technology is increasingly deployed in enhancing organizational processes for a positive impact on productivity and job satisfaction. Unfortunately, numerous construction organizations focus on the “hard” technology acquisitions in guiding organizational success and ignoring the integration of human system assumed to be the end-user of the invested technologies. The failure of most ICT interventions to effectively integrate employee adoption issues have contributed significantly in abandoning IT initiatives for not meeting their performance objectives. Through an extensive review of academic literatures, this study examines the importance of change management and reflects upon its significance in the larger context of ICT implementation. To do this, the general concept of organizational change management and change models/theories have been discussed along with some important constructs considered in organizational transformation from developing country perspective.

PREDICTING GOALS IN ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE: A CASE STUDY OF MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB

University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria.

E-mail: jfunminiyiojo@yahoo.co.uk

ABSTRACT

This study develops deterministic and probability models particularly additive and bilinear models with a view to determine the future goals in Manchester United Football Club. The nonlinear and non stationary nature of the series (goals) calls for the use of non linear time series model in addition to the deterministic model. The parameters of these models were estimated using the appropriate technique. The appropriate technique also was used to select the best model which was used to determine the future goals in Manchester United Football Club. For the deterministic model the future goals were determined and for the probability model the direction of goals in future was also determined. The future goals from these models will guide the policy maker (in football match) in decision taken.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, an attempt is made to design and implement an automatic change over with remote control. The design and construction of an automatic changeover with remote control will ease the use of an electrical power generating system. This paper focuses on the design of an automatic changeover with timer system that will enhance user control over a power generating set. It is intended for use with a single phase power generating set operating at  ac. This research work is limited to the design of an automatic changeover with timer system that will enhance user control over a power generating set. It is intended for use with a single phase power generating set operating at  ac.

ABSTRACT This work looked at crime rate in Nigeria. Data was collected from secondary source was analyzed with regression analysis, analysis of variance and chi-square (

) test. The study found out the crime rate is on the increase and there is no significant difference in crime rate among the state in Nigeria. The developed model for crime in Nigeria is Y = 38741.2 +

ABSTRACT

Intrusion detection has emerged as an important approach to data security. Current researches in areas of intrusion detection have tended towards network-based systems and how to improve on their intrusion detection. Only a little attention is given to host-based systems. For a thorough check on intrusion, both host-based and network-based systems should be involved to effectively detect attacks from insider as well as outsider sources. Installing separate systems, however, could be expensive. Some IDS vendors prefer to market them separately for some commercial gains. This study aims to integrate the advantages of both types of IDSs in a simple design that is cost effective. The proposed system uses its knowledge-based approach in the security log of the event log file in the Windows operating system to detect failed logins and unauthorized logins for the host-based IDS module while the network-based IDS module uses a hybrid approach to detect attacks like land attack, syn flood, smurf, ping of death, and dictionary attacks. These attacks were simulated using hping. The proposed system is implemented in Java. The results show that the proposed system is able to detect attacks both from within (host-based) and outside sources (network-based).

ABSTRACT

This paper focuses on the optimization of profit through outstanding. Outsourcing is a technique of delegating non core operation to an external entity. Data was from primary source that is; by the used of questionnaires and was analyzed with chi-square (X2) test. The study found out that outsourcing can maximized profit and utility better and cost is reduced.

ABSTRACT

This paper studies the measurement of automobile performance on our roads using the method of fuel economy. The study area is the road linking Maiduguri city to Bama town all in Borno State, Nigeria. The emphasis is made on performance of automobile in relation to fuel consumption with fuel economy. Road safety enhancement is also highlighted, as applied to highway schedule. In the highway schedule, the speeds are regulated to be greater than 89km/h. The other main schedule is referred to as the urban schedule of which speeds are less than 89km/h. Two particular methods (by two groups of physicists) were first identified for measurement of vehicle performance. For reasons of accuracy, one of them was decided for the current study area covering a distance of sixty-six kilometres (66km). Three samples of vehicles namely, Golf II, Hiace II and 505 Station Wagon were chosen because the 1985 models were found to be the commonest. At one time during the study, the preferred method had to be verified using the 1985 manufactured Golf II vehicle in relation to variation of  number of passengers. Ageing conditions of the vehicles affected the results. Furthermore, when global averages of the samples were analysed except for small deviation, the method verified well. Associated with fuel consumption and fuel economy are the energy to move the vehicles and the power to overcome air resistance in the route of 66km.Thus, the fuel consumption of 505 Peugeot Station Wagon is the highest then followed by  that of Hiace II  and lastly the value for Golf II. Nevertheless, by applying fuel consumption method, the purpose of this work is to bring awareness, facts and interest towards the conservation of energy resources in relation to vehicles plying our roads with optimal fuel economy.
