CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS AMONG BANK CUSTOMERS IN IDAH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF KOGI STATE, NIGERIA.

ABSTRACT
This research aims to investigate the level of cyber Security awareness among bank customers in Nigeria. 50 customers were randomly selected from three banks namely United Bank for Africa UBA, Union Bank and Access bank in Idah metropolis using a well-structured questionnaire to get information about the level of their awareness. The financial sector, particularly the banking sector, has seen a significant transformation with the adoption of digital technologies. Digital transformation in the banking sector has led to the creation of digital banking platforms, mobile banking apps, and online financial services. This has not only improved the customer experience but has also reduced operational costs for banks. This positive development however, have added negative consequences and that is, the rise in the risk of cyber-attacks. Cyber-attackers now have the ability to greatly harm the customers in new and critical ways. Many frequently lack the fundamental skills needed to operate safely in digital landscape. The worst-case scenario is that many Bank customers are totally oblivious to the dangers posed by cyberspace. Consequently, they are unprepared to implement defensive cybersecurity measures. The study finds that the level of cyber security awareness is low and need to be improved. Bank has a lot of responsibilities to protect and defend their customers, critical IT infrastructure against fraudulent activities of fraudsters. Top most of this is creation of much needed awareness through various media and means in both local and national languages to get to the grassroot.
